Woman with Cushion

Salvador Dalí
Year:
1969
FRAMED Dimensions:
35.5" x 29.5"
Medium:
Etching

The cushion the woman is sitting on is placed on top of a rock, which Dalí would use to symbolize the rock of the Church. She is illustrated as beautiful and pure, with a halo and veil placed on her head and a peaceful look on her face. The figure to her right appears to be a monster or demon – possibly representing an evil trying to take her away from this pure, peaceful state.
