Dalí shows a rock gushing forth the water from God, the sprouting of vegetation, and even wheat being picked by a beautiful girl, bringing a new life to God’s chosen people. In the background, a man wanders the desert with a butterfly net, searching for butterflies. The butterfly was used by Dalí, as a symbol of immortality and so this empty search undoubtedly symbolizes Moses's empty search for his own soul, which has at least in this instance, come up empty.
